BREAKING NEWS: Tanker Explosion Shuts Down I-75
POSTED: Wednesday, July 15, 2009UPDATED: 9:51 pm EDT July 15, 2009Michigan State Police have shut down I-75 in both directions at 9 Mile Road in Ferndale due to a tanker explosion and massive fire. Thick black smoke can be seen for miles away.The 9 Mile Road overpass bridge over southbound I-75 collapsed, and shortly thereafter the bridge over northbound I-75 also collapsed.The tanker is reported to have been carrying around 9,000 gallons of fuel. Utility companies have expressed concern over a natural gas pipeline that runs in the general area.Michigan State Police are asking everyone to avoid the area and are evacuating a nearby shopping center due to potentially toxic smoke.Traffic on northbound I-75 has been forced to exit at 8 Mile Road, and southbound traffic at I-696. Watch Local 4 News at 11 and Local 4 News Morning for complete detour information.Stay with Local 4 News for live coverage from the scene.

Whoa. Hope everyone is okay. But I’m mainly glad this wasn’t the bridge at 11 Mile. Mainly b/c that Tim Horton’s is tha shit!
